Sculptra
As we age, our body naturally creates less collagen, the skin component responsible for strength and elasticity. The decrease in collagen leads to the appearance of folds, wrinkles, and hollowness on our faces. To counter that, a customized cosmetic treatment plan can be developed for you, which might include BOTOX® or other longer lasting fillers and injectibles like Sculptra or Radiesse.
Sculptra is a popular option for restoring a more youthful look to the face using dermal fillers, and is a collagen regeneration product. It is an FDA approved soft tissue filler that stimulates your skin’s fibroblasts to produce new collagen, thereby reversing the loss of the skin’s fullness. It is used to fill and recontour areas where underlying supportive collagen and fat tissue have diminished with age or have been damaged by injury or disease. Sculptra is most often used to cheek hollows, smile lines, and depressions around the eyes. It is also used to restore fullness to the hands for a natural, younger appearance.

Your Sculptra Treatment

Non-Surgical Face Lift - Ulthera - Sculptra Injections NYC New York, NY
NON-SURGICAL FACE LIFT/ ULTHERA/ SCULPTRA INJECTIONS
Non- Surgical Face Lift – Ulthera – Skin Tightening - Sculptra – Liquid Facelift
Although Doctor Jacono is a surgeon he understands that not all patients want surgery but still want to look rejuvenated and have skin tightening and rejuvenation of their face. There are non-surgical face lift options that have no downtime and can erase 5 to 10 years off your appearance. As we age the face droops with gravity and also loses the natural volume of youth. This volume creates the apple cheeks we remember from years past. Non-surgical face lifting has been revolutionized in the past 5 years, with facial skin tightening devices and with injectable fillers that add volume back to the face.
While Fat Transfers to the face create the longest lasting volume replacement, there are many injectable treatments that do not require harvesting fat and a minor surgical procedure. To deliver the best results he combines Ulthera with Sculptra. Ulthera is the newest most effective facial tightening, and Sculptra is the longest lasting facial injectable treatment that requires no surgery.

Sculptra Facial Injectable Filler New York City
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a facial injectable which gives subtle results over time. It is long-lasting, but not a quick fix, and requires three treatments on average over a few months. Sculptra is not a wrinkle-filler, but rather a volumizer. It is not used directly into lines and folds, but is placed in multiple areas of the face in an attempt to address the volume loss that leads to their appearance. Sculptra helps the body replace the lost collagen that diminishes as we age.
What is Sculptra made of?
Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic biodegradable material which is resorbable. It has been used safely for decades in dissolvable sutures and as a facial injectable since its approval in 1999.
How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra stimulates the body to produce new collagen at the sites of injection, thereby replacing volume and restoring contours to a fuller, more youthful appearance. Sculptra does not afford immediate results because the true volume effect is created by your own collagen, not by the product itself.
Where can Sculptra be used?
Our faces “deflate” and lose volume as we age, making us look less 3-dimensional than we did in our youth. Volume restoration brings back the dimensional qualities and can “pick up” sagging skin. Sculptra can restore volume to hollow areas in the cheeks, temples and chin, and can help define the jawline again.
How is Sculptra administered?
Each treatment sessions consists of numerous injections to the areas being volumized. Local anesthetic is used and the discomfort is very mild. Vigorous massage is performed both in the office after the injections and by the patient at home that day.
What are the side effects of Sculptra?
As with any other filler injection, temporary swelling, bruising and bumps may occur. Generally these bumps are palpable, not visible, and resolve on their own. Rarely, small nodules can appear which last for several months.
How long does Sculptra last?
Sculptra can last up to two years from the first injection. Periodic touch-up treatments can help maintain the desired result.

What should I expect from Sculptra NYC New York NY
At your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra™ worked immediately because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra™. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before your treatment. Sculptra™ takes time to gradually correct the depression in your skin. Dr. Pilest will see you again in a few weeks to decide if you need more Sculptra™ injections.
As to number of treatments required, Dr. Pilest will decide the appropriate number of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra™ you will need at each session. Patients with severe facial fat loss may require 3 to 6 treatment sessions. First sessions most always start with 2 vials to create the proper “priming” level of new collagen production.
Treatment results will differ for each person in the length of time you maintain restults. In a clinical study, the treatment results lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment session, in most patients. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.
Pain? As with any injection, injections with Sculptra™ may hurt. Sculptra™ is injected in small amounts using a very fine needle. Dr. Pilest will apply a topical or local anesthetic. Sculptra must be injected with a syringe as opposed to other fillers that can be placed with a micro cannula. However, Sculptra is blended with an anesthetic so most areas of injection are not painful.

Sculptra works better for facial contouring NYC New York NY
After using both Sculptra and Radiesse heavily in my practice, I find that Sculptra is superior for filling in hollow temples, defining a sagging jawline and building cheek contours. While radiesse can be used in these areas, radiesse does not last as long and does not have the smooth consistency that sculptra offers. Radiesse works better for deep smile lines, sagging mouth corners and smaller areas of facial depression. Sculptra produces far better results and lasts longer when working on facial areas that require a considerable amount of 3 dimensional contouring such as the temples, cheeks, hollows in front of the ear and jawline. Sculptra also requires a better understanding of 3 dimensional aesthetics of the face as well as greater skill on the part of the injector.
Sculptra and Acne Scars nyc new york ny
Sculptra can definitely help correct acne scars but the effects will last up to two years. If the acne scars are significant, you should consider Fraxel or Ematrix, depending on your skin type. These two lasers can significantly and permanently remove acne scars. Please find a board certified Dermatologist with experience in cosmetic procedures.
How Long Does Sculptra Last? NYC New York NY
How Long Does Sculptra Last?
Sculptra is in a class of its own in terms of facial injectables. The product induces a proliferative response and stimulates collagen production. After a short period, the injected sculptra is gone, only to be left behind by your own collagen.
How long your own collagen will last is dependent on your specific profile. If you continue to damage your skin with poor diet, sun bathing, and stress, the collagen will break down and degenerate at a more advanced rate than someone who adheres to a more skin-healthy lifestyle.
This is not to say that if you are displeased with Sculptra you should damage your skin. It is just a reminder that collagen synthesis and degradation is a byproduct of your own genetics and environment.
Sculptra not a good option for acne scars nyc new york ny
Acne scars typically go through the entire thickness of the skin, and as such, tether the skin. Trying to get the tether to "release" by putting filler (any type, no matter how long it lasts) within (unlikely) or around it (more likely) simply puffs up the surrounding skin, making the scar more visible!
Subcision or excision of the scar tether is the only wayt to effectively release the attachment, and then a pearl of living fat, HA filler (short term), or Sculptra (long term, but not permanent) can fill and help protrude the scar depression.
Steroid injection can "unbundle" collagen fibers (scar) and provide improvement, but can also atrophy surrounding tissue, making a generalized depression that is another sort of problem! Not a fan (usually).
Your best treatment for acne scars is a visit to your plastic surgeon for excision/subcision and treatment of the deep or most visible scars, followed by laser resurfacing.
